The Museums


 sidneymuseum-2011The Sidney Museum is located on the second floor of the Sidney Gallery building.  Built in 1908, it was the first Masonic Temple building in Port Orchard.  The Sidney Museum includes a general store, school, doctor's office and hardware store.  The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Currently on display at the Sidney Museum . . .


The Log Cabin Museum is located at just up Sidney at 416 Sidney Avenue.  Built in 1914, it houses the "Orchard Family" and shows life in early Port Orchard.  The Log Cabin Museum is open from May to September, Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. (and always by appointment).  The current exhibit is set in 1914 where the Orchard family is at home.  Lewis is in the kitchen with one of the Grumble Brothers discussing a still, Emelia and daughter Emily are in the living room admiring a new sewing machine while son Charles is at the piano.  Grandmother Orchard is upstairs getting her hair done.  And Teddie is surprising well behaved.


There is never an admission charge although donations are always welcome.
