Sidney Volunteer – Virginia Collins
Sidney Museum and Arts Association values all of the Sidney Volunteers and we'd like to introduce you to some of them as well as encourage anyone interested in becoming a Sidney Volunteer. First, of course, is our Sidney Volunteer Coordinator, Virginia Collins. Virginia is always ready to help out, willing to fill in at a moments notice, and always with that great smile!
How long have you been a Sidney Volunteer?
Since 1997, about 17 years.
What do you do for the Sidney Museum and Arts Association?
Past President, Board of Directors, Volunteer Coordinator, Hospitality Coordinator and Sidney Volunteer
Are you an artist?
No, but I do make a few things for the gallery such as scarves and cross-stitch stationary.
Who's your favorite artist in the Sidney Art Gallery?
Roy Carr and his seascapes.
What are some of your hobbies?
Knitting and reading. I love historical stories.
Would you mind sharing a memorable story as a Sidney Volunteer?
During Cedar Cove Days in 2008, two representatives from Debbie Macomber's publisher came into the Sidney Art Gallery and I sold one of them a wild pink necklace to match her polka dot capris.
Which do you like best about Sidney Museum and Arts Association?
I enjoy the art but I really do appreciate being able to visit with the artists, volunteers and the public.
