Although born in North Dakota, Helen Stoner has spent most of her life in Washington where she married and raised her family.
A self taught painter and pastel artist, her Manchester studio overlooks beautiful Puget Sound and Mount Rainier. "My art has become the most enjoyable and relaxing expression of my life." Her realistic style is defined by her love of color and sense of emotion.
Stoner's love of the orient has given artistic expression to her floral arrangements where she focuses on Japanese element of design. "I find the simplicity of design and balance as well as the creative use of materials very exciting."
Helen has studied with Fumiko Kimura and Dorothy Funk. She has participated in many local and regional jurried exhibitions. She is a member of the South Kitsap Artists Association, and currently teaches pastel painting in her studio.
