Statement:
Sue Gordon I am a versatile artist and I strive to utilize my
talent and creativity in new ways. My abilities include paintings,
murals, pen and ink, collage, calligraphy, photography, three
dimensional wire sculptures, shell mobiles, windchimes, and
digital design. I have combined my love of flowers and graphic
design to create my original computer enhanced photography.
I also do special effects on pictures of people. My wire sculptures,
called "Dancin' Wires", combine whimsy, movement, and color.
They are made from flexible wire, stained glass, colored wires,
beads, polished rocks, marbles and much more. They turn at the
slightest breeze. No two are exactly alike.
Biography:
Sue has lived in Kent, WA since 1979. She grew up in Southern
California, (A Valley Girl) and attended college where she studied
art. She painted store front windows during the holiday seasons.
These displays defined and set the mood for the seasons in an
area where it was sunny almost all year round. In 1977 she moved
to Southern Oregon where she taught art as a parent volunteer.
As a school project she directed the students in painting a
mural on a building. She studied graphic design at Highline
community collage in 1993-96 and graduated with highest honors.
Her work has been entered in art exhibits in South King County.
She is a participant in the 2002-2003 arts exhibit at Kent City
Hall. As part of the Maple Valley Arts Council her work is featured
at Edward Jones in Maple Valley. Her photograph, "Gypsy Beauty",
received third place at the 2002 Northwest Regional Fair.
